Ants have a respiratory system which is quite different from ours.
Instead of having lungs, oxygen is absorbed through pocket-size holes located all over the torso. The holes, called spiracles, allow oxygen to be captivated directly into the bloodstream from the air outside the body.
Since blood is usually carrying nutrients to all parts of the ants, the oxygen is carried to each of the different cells rather than staying in lungs to be breathed in once again.
Some other way ants extract oxygen is through its abdomen. The spiracles in their abdomen allow them to excerpt oxygen from the air they take in through their mouths. It's a very efficient system in a very pocket-size package.
